Article 1 - Purpose and Scope
These Terms govern the use of Genie Korean Tutoring (the "Service"), including account registration, lesson credit purchase, booking, chat, payments, and related features.
Article 2 - Services
The Service provides:
- 1:1 online video lessons (standard 50-minute session)
- Lesson credit purchase, issuance, and balance management
- Lesson booking, urgent booking request flow (within 24 hours), and schedule view
- Student-teacher chat and lesson notifications
- PayPal payment processing and payment history
Article 3 - Accounts and User Obligations
- Users must provide accurate information and must not impersonate others.
- Users are responsible for protecting their own account credentials.
- Any misuse, abuse, spam, security attacks, or rights violations are prohibited.
- Users must comply with operational policies, including booking, cancellation, refund, and no-show rules.
Article 4 - Credit Validity and Deduction
- All purchased or granted credits must be fully used within the validity period shown for each product or coupon.
- When the validity period expires, any remaining credits are automatically forfeited and are non-refundable.
- One credit is deducted when a lesson is confirmed (direct booking or accepted booking request).
- Within the same lesson type, credits are deducted from the soonest-expiring valid credit first. If expiration dates are the same, the oldest issued credit is used first.
- Credits are non-transferable and may not be gifted or resold.
Article 5 - Booking, Entry, and Lesson Time
- Direct booking is available for slots at least 24 hours before lesson start.
- For slots within 24 hours, users must submit a booking request and wait for teacher approval.
- The Zoom entry button is active from 10 minutes before lesson start until lesson end.
- Displayed start/end time follows the user's configured timezone.
Article 6 - Change, Cancellation, and No-show
- To ensure smooth lesson operations and fair booking opportunities for other students, the following deduction rules apply.
- Lesson changes/cancellations are allowed only up to 12 hours before lesson start.
- If a change or cancellation is requested within 12 hours before lesson start, that lesson is treated as completed and one credit is automatically deducted.
- If a student does not join within 10 minutes after lesson start without prior notice, it is treated as a no-show and one credit is deducted.
- Deductions caused by no-show, late arrival, or changes/cancellations within 12 hours are all counted as used lesson sessions.
Article 7 - Refund Policy
Refund requests are accepted only within 7 days from the purchase date. After 7 days, refunds are unavailable regardless of lesson usage.
- Case A (before any lesson starts, within 7 days): if no lesson has been used, refund = total paid amount - payment platform fee.
- Case B (after at least one lesson is used or deducted, within 7 days): refund = total paid amount - (used count x regular unit price) - payment platform fee.
- Regular unit price means the non-discounted single-lesson list price.
- Used count includes completed lessons and all deductions under Article 6 (no-show, late arrival, or changes/cancellations within 12 hours).
- Any non-returnable payment processing fee charged by the payment platform (such as PayPal) is borne by the student.
- If the calculated refund amount is zero or below, no refund is provided.
Article 8 - Student Equipment and Connectivity
- Lessons are provided through Zoom or equivalent online video platforms.
- Users are responsible for checking internet, audio, and camera status before class.
- Student-side device/network issues may still be treated as a completed lesson and may result in credit deduction.
Article 9 - Service Changes and Suspension
The Service may change features, pricing, operation methods, or may temporarily suspend service due to operational, technical, or force majeure reasons. Material changes are announced in advance when reasonably possible.
Article 10 - Prohibited Conduct and Restriction
- The Service may issue warnings, restrict use, suspend, or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms or applicable laws.
- Fraudulent payments, abuse, and security threats may result in civil and criminal liability.
Article 11 - Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
- The Service is not responsible for disruptions caused by force majeure or third-party platform outages.
- The Service is not liable for losses caused by the user's own fault.
- Any liability of the Service is limited to the extent permitted by applicable law.

- These Terms may be amended due to legal or operational changes, with notice provided in the Service.
- Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes are subject to competent courts under applicable law.
